No Lines, Just the Music: Alcatraz Brings Frictionless VIP Access to UNTOLD 2026

Your favorite act is about to take the stage. You can hear the crowd building, but you’re still stuck at the gate: a long line inching forward, a wristband that won’t scan on the first try (or the second), and a phone searching for a signal to pull up your ticket.
Every festival-goer knows that moment. At UNTOLD 2026, one of the world’s largest music festivals, Alcatraz set out to reimagine it.
A magical way in
In Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Alcatraz teamed up with Rhuna and CNKT Labs to reinvent VIP entry with facial authentication.
The idea was simple: guests enroll once, then walk right in. No wristband to scan, no ticket to find, no line to wait in. At the VIP entrance, Alcatraz authenticated each enrolled guest as they approached, and they were in.
It feels a little like magic. One moment you’re walking up to the entrance; the next, you’re inside and heading for the stage.
Premium access should feel premium. With Alcatraz, it does.
Every minute belongs to the music
People choose VIP for the experience: better views, more room to breathe and more time with the artists they came to see. They want to feel like the festival was made for them.
With Alcatraz, the VIP experience starts before guests even reach the stage. The entrance becomes part of the fun: fast, exclusive and effortless. More time for the music, and a lot more “wow.”
The same experience can go well beyond festivals: backstage areas, suites, premium entrances and executive spaces. Anywhere the moment of arrival should feel special.
Built to scale with the crowd
A festival is one of the toughest tests for access technology. Thousands of people are on the move, and big groups can arrive all at once. A frictionless experience has to hold up when the crowd surges.
Alcatraz is built for exactly that. Rock X will support up to 100,000 profiles per deployment, so the same seamless experience can reach large venues, campuses and global enterprises.
Behind the scenes, organizations manage everything centrally: users, devices, policies, enrollment, consent, audit logs and real-time access events. Guests get a better experience, and operators get the control and visibility they need to run it.
Rain or shine, day or night
Festival weather can change in an instant. One minute it’s blazing sunshine, the next it’s a surprise downpour, and by the headliner it’s pitch dark with lights flashing everywhere.
Your way in shouldn’t depend on the weather. Rock X is built to work anywhere, anytime:
- Rain or shine: it’s weatherproof, so a sudden storm won’t slow anyone down.
- Day or night: it recognizes guests in bright midday sun and in complete darkness.
- Hot or cold: it keeps working from freezing winter nights to scorching summer afternoons.
The same reliability powers access at stadiums, corporate campuses, data centers and some of the world’s most secure facilities. So at a festival, guests can count on one thing: walking right in, whatever the sky is doing.
Your face, your privacy
A seamless experience only works if people trust it, so privacy came first at UNTOLD.
Participation was opt-in, reflecting a principle at the center of Alcatraz: trust should be built into the experience.
That approach is in line with Europe’s high standards for privacy. Under the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), biometric data receives special protection and typically requires clear, explicit consent before it can be used. Alcatraz is built around those same principles: privacy by design, consent up front and only the data needed to confirm who you are.
Here’s how it works. Alcatraz turns facial information into an encrypted biometric template, a secure digital key that can’t be turned back into a picture of your face. That template is used only to confirm that an enrolled guest is who they say they are.
We don’t store your photo. We don’t sell your data. We simply confirm that you are you.
“The Alcatraz technology is built for environments where security, speed, and privacy all matter,” said Vince Gaydarzhiev, Founder and President of Alcatraz. “UNTOLD demonstrated that even at the scale and pace of a major festival, facial authentication can deliver fast, effortless access without compromising privacy.”
