About us:

We're a venture backed, Series A startup developing a new method for physical access point authentication. Similar to FaceID on iPhone X, the technology unlocks spaces only when it identifies the person in front of it has access. To achieve this, we use facial detection and recognition, 3D sensing and artificial intelligence to enable highly secure and frictionless entry into physical locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write Product Requirement Docs (PRDs)
  • In order to write great Alcatraz PRDs, the candidate will thoroughly investigate product requirements by a combination of
    • researching the features of currently available products
    • interviewing customers
    • interviewing partners
    • working with Alcatraz Engineering and other team members
  • Engage customers & partners often to ensure we're developing exactly the right solutions
  • Give concise, timely, informed direction to Alcatraz Engineering

Must have:

  • Must be local, works out of the Alcatraz office
  • Experience defining comprehensive solutions - the combination of hardware, software and services (e.g. including installation & support)
  • Experience both specifying the full solution requirements and plotting a roadmap of incremental feature releases and improvements delivered over time, designed for rapid time to market and to capture initial footprint, then to deliver/unlock ever-increasing value
    • experience writing Product Requirements Docs (PRDs)
  • Experience developing products having a substantial software component, including embedded, server, cloud and UI components
    • experience with solutions which may be offered having a cloud back-end or an on-prem backend
  • Experience developing ‘smart’ networked devices (IoT)

Desired:

  • 5 years product management experience
  • Engineer + MBA
  • Experience within the physical security space, ideally with knowledge of biometrics, authentication, computer vision and machine learning technologies
  • Understanding of and experience with physical access control, current working knowledge of competition and substitute solutions on the market or emerging
  • Experience developing hardware products including familiarity with international homologation requirements
  • Appreciates user experience, user interface design and enthusiastically collaborate with the Alcatraz Design team
  • Experience making make vs. buy decisions - deciding when to partner vs. build
